Theresa Drake

Behind the Manuscript

Theresa Drake believes every unforgettable book begins long before the final page — in the quiet moment a writer first dares to say, "I need to write this." As the host of Behind the Manuscript, she sits with authors while their stories are still taking shape, uncovering the spark that started it all and shining a light on the journey, the struggles and the breakthroughs along the way. Every story matters — and with Theresa, yours is heard.

Joshua

Joshua

Before the Book

Joshua has spent more than seven years inside the world of nonfiction publishing, first as a publisher, then as a marketer shaping how authors' stories reach the readers who need them. Over that time, he's worked closely with more than 27 nonfiction authors, sitting with them through every stage of the process: the early doubt, the research that changes you, the moment a manuscript stops being a private project and becomes something the world will read. That vantage point is what shapes Before the Book. Joshua isn't interested in what a book says on its cover, he's spent his career watching what it costs, and gives back, behind it. As host, he brings the instincts of someone who has helped authors long before the interview ever starts: he knows what questions matter, when to sit in silence, and how to hold space for the parts of a writer's journey that rarely make it into a press release. Before the Book is, in many ways, the conversation Joshua has had off the record with authors for years, now finally on the mic.
